I donate a percentage of the profits to the World Wildlife Fund because they address the issues that our environment and animals face for survival. Their approach is multi-level-communities, governments, businesses; and it is world-wide. Their methods are based on science; and they seek to balance human needs with nature. Since their inception in 1961, they are involved in 100 countries; and they are supported by almost 5 million members globally (1.2 million in the U.S.). WWF meets the BBB (Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance's Standards for Charity Accountability, and they also have a 4 Star rating (the highest) from Charity Navigator. This is my symbol showing that I have a commitment to not only living Green, but more specifically to making jewelry in a Green way, which is my small part to help protect the Earth and its Critters.
I do not use any Gold. Click here to find out why
Whenever possible, I purchase gemstones, metals, and supplies from companies who in turn obtain their merchandise from reputable dealers. These are companies who do not exploit the environment or the natives who mine the stone or ore; and who also have recycled metals.
I also try to use jewelry construction methods using materials that are not harmful to the environment. I use a technique called cold connections, which do not use 'hot' methods such as soldering. Wire-wrapping is a type of a cold connection.
I use recycled products for shipping and packaging, and for business stationary.
