Security for Online Purchases

My Web Site Host uses a digital certificate on data sensitive pages (personal information in My Accounts and payment information) through an SSL with GeoTrust though advanced encryption methods. GeoTrust can be used not only on Desktop Computers and Laptops, but also on handheld devices with Internet access (Palm, Blackberry, Smartphone, etc.). GeoTrust supports the SSL not only through desktop computers and laptops, but also handheld devices which can access the Web (Palm, Blackberry, Smartphones, etc.) SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. The encryption takes place when the SSL is engaged. When SSL is engaged on a web site, the following features should be visible:

1. Look in the web address bar at the top of your web browser window. It should have an 's' at the end of 'http://, and be https://. The 's' means it is secure.
2. You should also see a closed padlock in the web browser's address bar.

Fair Credit Billing Act, PL 93-495 (1974)

Also, the Fair Credit Billing Act requires credit card companies to limit your total liability to $50 of fraudulent charges made prior to you notifying the company of the fraudulent use of your card if notification occurs within 30 days of the loss. Often the card company will waive the $50 charge. The companies I have chosen to accept your credit card have multiple steps in place to reduce the possibility of this occurring to be miniscule.
